Homemade Ghee & Homemade Butter

Prepared from A2 cow milk. Includes Step-by-step instructions to prepare Homemade Ghee & Butter from Malai of A2 Cow Milk.

Equipment

  • Mixer Grinder with bigger jar
  • Filter

Ingredients

  • 500 grams Malai collected from milk & can be stored in freezer over a period of time.
  • 1 tsp Curd
  • 1 litre cold water

Instructions

  • Collect Malai from milk over a period of time & store in freezer
  • On the day of preparation, Take out the frozen malai & let it thaw.
  • Add the malai to a mixer jar (batch-by-batch)
  • Add a teaspoon of curd
  • Add a glass of cold water and blend for 30 seconds
  • Stop for every 30 seconds and blends for three to four times
  • If it's thick, add cold water
  • Separate the formed butter and drop in cold water
  • Refrigerate along with the water for 10 minutes
  • Take out the butter and melt it to ghee (If you need just butter, stop here)
  • Once it turns golden brown, homemade ghee is ready!
  • Allow it to cool. Filter & store in a container.

Step-by-Step Instructions: To prepare A2 Cow Ghee
1. Collect Malai from milk over a period of time & store in freezer
 2. On the day of preparation, Take out the frozen malai & let it thaw.
3. Add the malai to a mixer jar (batch-by-batch). My Mixer Grinder with bigger Jar.
4. Add a teaspoon of curd.
5. Add a glass of cold water and blend for 30 seconds.
6. Stop for every 30 seconds and blends for three to four times.
7. If it’s thick, add cold water.
8. Separate the formed butter and drop in cold water.
9. Refrigerate along with the water for 10 minutes. My Whirlpool Refrigerator.
10. Take out the butter and melt it to ghee (If you need just butter, stop here). Better to use Heavy bottom Iron Kadai.
11. Once it turns golden brown, homemade ghee is ready!
12. Allow it to cool. Filter & store in a container.  Stainless steel filter works better as it doesn’t do any harm even when the ghee is hot.  Stainless steel containers are good, if you store is slightly hot – Ghee storage container. But don’t use a glass storage container when the ghee is hot.
